Will the extraction hurt?

The procedure itself is numbing — local anaesthetic means you'll feel pressure but not pain. Mild aching for 24–48 hours afterwards, managed easily with paracetamol or ibuprofen.
How long does recovery take?

Simple extractions: back to work next day, full healing in 2 weeks. Surgical/wisdom teeth: 3–5 days, NO heavy activity, full healing 2–3 weeks.
What's the aftercare following an extraction?

For the first 24 hours, avoid rinsing, spitting, hot drinks, alcohol, smoking and strenuous exercise — these can dislodge the blood clot that protects the socket. Bite gently on the gauze pad for 30–60 minutes to stop any bleeding. From the next day, rinse gently with warm salty water (a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water) after meals, 2–3 times a day. Eat soft foods on the opposite side, keep the area clean, and take paracetamol or ibuprofen as needed for discomfort. Some swelling and mild aching is normal for a few days. If you have heavy bleeding that won't settle, increasing pain after day three, a bad taste or fever, please call the practice — we're here to help.
Can I be referred via NHS?

Yes — we accept NHS England referrals for minor oral surgery under Dr Jakileti's DWSI (Dentist with Special Interest) accreditation. Ask your GDP.
