we perform a wide range of minor oral surgery procedures at Bridge House Dental.
we are one of the referral centres for provision of minor oral surgery services for NHS Suffolk.
Difficult extractions of teeth
The goal of modern dentistry is to prevent tooth loss. When a tooth cannot be saved, extraction (removal) of the tooth may be the only course of treatment.
A tooth that is very decayed or damaged or lose because of gum disease may have to be extracted. Some teeth are more difficult to take out than others because of the size, shape, position in the mouth or the shape of their roots, therefore may require specialist help.
Extraction of impacted wisdom teeth
Wisdom teeth (third molars) are the last teeth to come through.
They may not erupt, or emerge from the gums until your late teens or early twenties if they erupt at all. Most often, they're impacted or trapped in the jawbone and gums usually because there's not enough room for them in your mouth. If impacted wisdom teeth cause problems like infection, pain or decay, their removal by a Specialist may be recommended.
After root canal treatment, the teeth which have been root filled can sometimes become tender and cause the gums to swell up. This is usually because there is still some infection present in the root, or it has become re-infected. If this has happened to you, your dentist may have referred you to us for an apicectomy. This involves removing the infected root tip, thoroughly cleaning the root canal and then sealing the end of the root with a cement sealant. It is a simple procedure that we can carry out under local anaesthetic, with or without sedation as you prefer.
